Motorized vinyl and bug doors move much faster than metal roll-up doors. The speed and the controls you can add depend on the motor.
Opening Speed
How fast do motorized vinyl roll-up doors open compared to metal doors?
Vinyl roll-up doors open much faster compared to metal roll-up doors that only peak at about 4 to 6 inches per second.
In-tube motor doors open at roughly 12 inches per second up to 6 cycles per hour, and are ideal for openings that are occasionally used.
High-cycle jackshaft motor doors uncover at 20 to 30 inches per second and can operate up to 100 cycles a day.
High speed roll up doors accelerate at 50 to 100 inches per second for firmest temperature and pest control.
Controls and Access
What access control options can be added to a motorized roll-up door?
Depends on the type of motor.
In-tube motor doors are coordinated with a basic up/down wall switch, a remote control device with receiver, and pull cords.
High-cycle motor doors integrate a wall switch, remote control and pull cords, with additional in-floor vehicle loops and motion sensors that enable the automatic opening of the door.
Pull cords suspend 6 to 8 feet before the door so forklift operators can open it seated. Evaluate motor selections on our motorized roll-up vinyl door page.
