Fit A Security Shutter Around Your ATM
Roll Up For Customer Access
Match the operation to the staff using the shutter and how often it will open and close.
- Manual lift: consider it where staff can comfortably reach and move a suitable shutter.
- Hand crank: discuss it when you prefer hand operation through a crank. (For Tall Openings)
- Motorized: consider it for frequent operation or when lifting by hand is impractical.
The units you order are customized just for you, and we ship them according to their custom size, weight, and other configurations. No electricity is required for manual operation.
When you fully retract the shutter, your ATM is ready to use. And when you close them, you can lock the shutter, and you can easily and quickly prevent access.
Custom Fit For Your ATM Opening
Choose from two different styles of materials for the shutter.
- Solid aluminum blocks the view of the screen, keypad and cash dispenser.
- Punched aluminum allows visibility and airflow through the slats. Check the ATM maker’s ventilation requirements separately.
Both styles are trial and tested to protect your ATM machine from being opened with force, they’re equally strong. If you want them to come with specific customizations or material, just let us know. We do our best to accommodate customization requests from our clients and will let you know if we can do them.
You can use our quote form and give us the additional information about your ATM machine, including its width and height and photos of where it's located, and we’ll give you a quick quote you can check for the shutter’s pricing and the features needed for your ATM machine.
If your location has other openings you want to be protected, you can explore our wide selection of roll-up counter doors for commercial storefronts, retail storefronts, and service counters.

Common Applications

Drive-Up ATM Shutters
If your ATM is a drive-up ATM machine, you’ll need a clear shutter path in front of any projecting trim like screens or keypads. The shutter should be able to fully close the opening without it touching the machine.
Check to see where your staff stand to operate it. Please include the vehicle lane, bollards, and canopy in the photos you’ll be sending to us. From there, choose the best controls that your staff can easily reach. We encourage you to confirm the available setup before you proceed with checkout.

Walk-Up Bank ATMs
If you have a walk-up bank ATM, they may be sitting behind stone cladding or other decorative trim. The finished surface around it does not fully establish where the shutter guides can be safely supported.
What you can do is you can have your installer check and identify the structure behind the facade. Make sure that the raised shutter and its guides allow the customer interface to be clear. Also, check and identify any ATM service panels that must be open beside or below the machine.

Retail And Convenience Store ATMs
At times, you may want to close your ATM machine while keeping your shop open for business. For that purpose, an individual shutter will help you cover the machine opening without you having to close all your surrounding retail area.
Plan in advance how you want your shelves to be displayed and the path to the checkout. Also, assign a designated staff member to operate the shutter and decide where the controls or keys for it will be safely stored. Make sure that it's clear for the customers that the ATM is closed before they join a queue.

Hotel And Lobby ATMs
If you have a lobby ATM, it can share the wall alongside finished wood panels, lighting, and furniture. For that reason, pick a shutter with the design and layout of the room in mind, then see how the housing will fit above the opening.
Also, keep future maintenance work in mind. Make sure you know how the technicians will maintain both the shutter and the ATM without having to dismantle the decorative elements around. For a closed opening, solid aluminum works best for blocking the view of the machine.

Bank Vestibules With Multiple ATMs
For bank vestibules with multiple ATMs, having separate shutters will let your staff close up the opening of one ATM while keeping the other machines accessible. If your machines have different operating hours, or one needs service, this can be especially useful.
Make sure to have the measurements of each opening and their central support separately. If you choose motors for your shutters, let us know if you want each one to have its own control. Also, make sure to confirm in advance that servicing one machine will not need access to the other shutter assembly.

Standalone ATM Kiosks
Your outdoor ATM kiosk will need a setup that's suited to the actual environment it's going to be exposed to. It may need a canopy for shelter. Also, you will need to check if it's going to be vulnerable to wind-driven rains and other environmental conditions.
To help you out, send us photos of the kiosk construction and its exposed parts, as well as the surrounding area. We want you to ask us about exterior suitability, finish protection, the controls and protection for the motor. A closed shutter does not automatically weatherproof the ATM, and it will not replace the enclosure it needs.

Campus And Student Center ATMs
You can have your campus ATM closed while the student center stays open. For this reason, punched aluminum is a great choice so that you can retain airflow and visibility through the shutter, since solid aluminum blocks the view completely.
Consider the needs for its location when it’s closed when choosing the shutter for your ATM. Keep in mind that punched slats do not automatically meet the ventilation requirements of the ATM maker, so you will want to check those requirements separately. Also, decide in advance which staff you want to assign to have access to the controls of the shutter.

Arena And Event Venue ATMs
Event venues open and close ATMs according to customer activity. They may close it between events and open it before customers start coming in. You will need to match its operation according to the customers who will use it, as well as how often it will need to move and the measurements of the shutter.
Make sure to keep the queue barriers as well as the temporary signs and stock out of the shutter’s path. If you want the shutter to be motorized, before you order, we will need to discuss with you the controls as well as the available power-loss procedure. Which you will then include in the opening and closing routine of your staff.

ATM Shutter Questions

What does an ATM security shutter protect?
An ATM security shutter protects the ATM when it's not in use by closing over the customer-facing opening. However, while the ATM is protected by a physical barrier, security shutters do not nullify the need for an alarm or a safety site security assessment. For the required forced-entry or impact rating, it must be confirmed for the precise configuration.
Can I order a custom size?
Yes, absolutely. Just send us the measurements of the width and height of the full opening, as well as the quantity, and photos of the location and the surrounding areas. The measurement of the screen only is not enough. Also, include photos and measurements of the projecting trim and the headroom available, as well as the side clearance so that we at PAYLON can review the proposed fit.
How does the shutter lock?
We will discuss with you to confirm how the locking arrangement works for the shutter you selected and its operation style. We’ll also discuss who will need access and where the controls or keys will be safely stored and kept. A motor alone does not provide the necessary locking arrangement your site needs.
What happens during a power outage?
What happens during a power outage depends on the motor and setup you selected. So before a power outage occurs, be familiar with the available manual override or other procedures in case of power loss. Do this before ordering. Battery backup or automatic opening is not automatically included in the package.
Can the ATM still be serviced?
Yes, the layout of the shutter will leave access to the service panels of the ATM as well as the shutter hardware. Before you order, share how your machine opens when it's time for replenishment and maintenance. Make sure to have the ATM provider and the installers double-check that the guides, controls, and housing will not get in the way of that access.
Can I use one outdoors?
Yes, but we want you to give us the details about the environment of the kiosk and the wall construction. Tell us about the rain conditions, wind, and salt exposure so that we can give a proper assessment. We want to confirm the exterior suitability and any other performance check for the configuration you selected. Remember, a shutter does not fully weatherproof the ATM or replace the need for a proper enclosure.
Should I choose solid or punched aluminum?
If you want the view to the ATM to be blocked when closed, solid aluminum is the best choice. However, if you want visibility and airflow, punched aluminum provides both through its slats. Pick what suits your ATM’s needs best. You do want to check the ATM maker’s ventilation requirements, as the punched slats alone do not mean those are met.
What is included for installation?
When you order a shutter, it comes as a kit complete with the installation parts you’ll need. Your installer will be the one to supply the wall fasteners and will check the supporting structure, as well as any fixing needs. If you order a shutter with motorized operation, confirm the wiring and power needs in your quote.
What should I send for an ATM shutter quote?
On your ATM shutter quote, send us the full opening measurements, including the headroom and the side clearance, as well as the quantity and the location of the project. Also, attach photos of the machine’s projection, its wall support, service panels, and any nearby obstructions. Also, tell us your preferred curtain, your preferred operation style, the finish, and any specific requests for the security requirements of the ATM.
